Questions & Answers

about ski rental in Sölden

Is it worthwhile to buy your own skis, or wouldn’t it be smarter to rent or hire them? Is it even worth buying ski equipment if you only go on a ski holiday for a few weeks a year? Every year new models come onto the market, and what’s modern today may already be outdated tomorrow. The range of good skis keeps expanding – there’s an ideal ski for every snow condition. But who wants to have so many skis sitting in their basement? Transport also shouldn’t be overlooked. Cars often don’t have enough space, roof boxes cost money and increase fuel consumption. Anyone traveling by train knows how inconvenient bulky luggage can be. And on airplanes, there’s always an extra charge for oversized baggage anyway. We’ve put together a few questions and answers here that many winter holidaymakers have probably already asked themselves.

Isn’t renting skis expensive?

Renting skis isn’t necessarily more expensive than buying your own equipment. It depends partly on what type of skier you are and what demands you place on the gear. In addition, in larger ski resorts there are various providers competing with each other. Comparing prices is always worthwhile.

What are the advantages of renting skis?

What are the advantages of renting skis? You always get the latest equipment, freshly serviced. That means the skis are waxed and the edges are sharply tuned. If you like, you can even swap your gear spontaneously – for example, if it has just snowed and you want to try a freeride ski. You don’t have to transport or maintain your skis yourself. If you prefer, you can even store them directly in the Sölden ski area in one of our ski depots instead of taking them back to your accommodation.

Who benefits from renting skis?

A beginner or intermediate skier who goes on a ski holiday for a maximum of 2 weeks per year will definitely save money with rental skis and still get high-quality equipment. This is especially true when you factor in the cost of annual servicing. Anyone who wants to adapt their equipment to current conditions will also benefit.

Can you also rent the right boots for skis and snowboards?

Save yourself the hassle and simply leave your gear in one of our 4 depots in Sölden! If you rent your skis from us, you even get special rates.
